What information we collect

  • We collect your name and email address to send you updates about new experiments and blog posts.
  • When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.   • We use a company called Funnel Sketchers to manage our email list. Your data is transferred to them for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
  • If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
  • Information collected by cookies, such as which pages were visited, is only used for things like improving the design of our website.

Who we share your data with

We take customer privacy very seriously and will never sell your personal data to anyone else. We do not collect sensitive information, nor any information in excess of what we need to share our love of STEM with you.

We use some trusted third-party companies to help us design our website and manage our emails for newsletters. These partners include but are not limited to; Google Analytics, JetPack, Funnel Sketchers.

How long we retain your data

  • If you leave a comment on our website, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • If you sign up to our mailing list, we will retain your name and email address for as long as you are subscribed to it. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.
  • Any customer queries or complaints will be retained for 3 years (as recommended by the ICO).

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
